Final Report of the Joint Committee of the Sanitary Engineering Division and the Irrigation Division and the Irrigation Division on the Salvage of Sewage

Publication: Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers
Volume 107, Issue 1

Abstract

Consideration is limited in this report to the direct salvage of products from sewage-water, fertilizer, gas, grease, and such other materials as may be separated from sewage in the treatment plant or elsewhere and used. It does not include consideration of such salvage as may occur after the sewage leaves the collecting system or disposal works and, mingling with the waters of streams, lakes or underground strata, is again put to useful service. Factors limiting the study are arbitrary and were adopted by a majority vote of Committee and Subcommittee members after an extended period of investigation had indicated that any wider view would involve consideration of many topics which might better be subjects for separate reports.
