Abstract
The operation of the modern hydro-electric power plant for high efficiency necessitates the determination of the actual turbine and generator performance curves. Such curves can now be determined to a high degree of accuracy by rating the turbine water input by either the Allen or the Gibson method. These ratings are usually in the nature of a turbine efficiency test made to determine whether the manufacturer's guaranties have been met, or to check the efficiency of old installations. As the performance curves thus established apply to only one head and one plant-loading condition, its utility as a means of presenting operating data has been considered secondary.
