George Washington Bridge: Materials and Fabrication of Steel Structure

Abstract
The main structure of the George Washington Bridge, because of its type and magnitude, required for its construction large quantities of metallic materials of various kinds.To describe the methods of manufacture and fabrication followed in the mills and shops on the various parts of the metallic structure, to record the properties of the materials incorporated in the structure, and to outline the methods of testing that were followed in order to insure conformity with the specifications, are the objects of this paper.
