Determinati on of Source and Extent of Odors: Methods for Determining the Origin, Prevalence and Effect of Obnoxious Odors and the Evaluation of an Odor Nuisance
Publication: Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers
Volume 89, Issue 1
Abstract
During 1920-21 the writer was commissioned to make an investigation of an alleged nuisance caused by certain oil refining plants in the Metropolitan District of Providence, R. I. In planning this investigation it had to be borne in mind that although it was desirable to obtain as full and complete information as possible on all correlated points, only a very limited appropriation was. available for the purpose. Before starting the investigation, therefore, a search was made through health and sanitary journals and reports to asce rtain what methods had been followed in other investigations of similar import.
