Abstract
The object of this paper is to present some suggestive designs for a bridge with several spans accommodating railroad and street traffic across a wide river, the channel span to be approximately of the greatest length thus far used in practice, so that simple trusses are out of the question. Much has been written on the subject of long-span bridges, but it is far from being exhausted. Apparently there is yet much to learn regarding the construction of great bridges, and a thorough discussion of designs will bring out facts of undoubted value.
