Circular Wall Jets in Coflowing Streams
Publication: Journal of the Hydraulics Division
Volume 108, Issue 2
Abstract
The mixing and diffusion of circular turbulent wall jets in coflowing open channel streams is discussed with the ratio of the jet to channel velocity varying from 2 to 30 and the depth of flow being 10 to 30 times the jet diameter. The longitudinal velocity profiles with respect to the channel velocity have been found to be similar. Using the excess momentum thickness as the length scale, it has been possible to develop practically useful correlations for the length, relative velocity and shear velocity scales, using the previous results of circular free jets in coflowing streams as a guide.
