Abstract
The systems of equations derived in Part I of this paper for water distribution systems have been solved by means of a modified Newton-Raphson method. The modified method does not require a Jacobian matrix and its inverse which are necessary when the Newton-Raphson method is used. In general, the modified Newton-Raphson method converges at a faster rate than the Newton-Raphson method. A method of obtaining initial values so that the iterative solution process will converge is also presented. With this technique, convergence was obtained for all of the examples attempted.
