Abstract
To determine the effects of roads and forest-cover changes on sediment yields, measurements were made on one carefully logged and two undisturbed watersheds in the Fraser Experimental Forest, CO. Annual sediment yield averaged 200 lb per acre immediately following road construction in 1950-52 and logging in 1954-56. In the period 1958-66, sediment yield averaged 43 lb per acre, despite an estimated 25% increase in annual runoff caused by the harvest, compared with yields of 11 and 21 lb per acre on the undisturbed watersheds.
