Abstract

Dimensional analysis is used to obtain a relationship between the parameters of a homogeneous, isotropic confined aquifer. A dimensionless form of the fundamental differential equation governing the transient flow of groundwater toward a fully penetrating well in an infinite confined aquifer is solved analytically and numerically. Graphical methods of solution are proposed for the determination of any one of the parameters provided the other parameters are known. Field data are used to compare the proposed method with existing methods of determining the coefficients of transmissibllity and storage of a confined aquifer.
