Abstract
The relationship between the ratio of the eddy diffusivity for sediment to the eddy diffusivity for momentum and the particle Reynolds number was obtained from the measured velocity and sediment-concentration distributions in a vertical, axi-symmetric, sediment-laden submerged jet directed downward into stationary water. The results have been explained on the basis of physical considerations regarding inertial and gravitational effects on the motion of foreign particles in turbulent flow.
