Abstract
The water jet pump, when designed with experimentally obtained optimum dimensions, can achieve efficiencies in the range of 35% to 40%. The design depends on the selected nozzles and diffuser, as well as the other parts of the pump, so that the hydraulic losses incurred are kept to a minimum. These dimensions have been determined experimentally. Cavitation also influences the behavior of the water jet pump, and the limit of operation that it imposes on the pump can be predicted with reasonable accuracy.
