Abstract
Facts concerning hurricanes and their effects on sea level as they relate to prevention of future disasters; meteorological aspects of storm surge generation by hurricanes; assuming probable errors in forecast, area several times as large as that actually affected must be alerted; how with improved instrumentation and forecasting techniques, number of evacuations will be reduced.
