Abstract
This paper presents a circumstantial account of the history, plant, operation, control and production of the pipeline, hydraulic, cutter-head dredge. The dredge plant's components, how they function, how dredging is accomplished and methods used to measure and determine output are described in practical terms. Recommendations are made concerning the need for more published dredging information. Lack of research and development is noted.
