Abstract
A procedure is presented for preparing refraction diagrams and computing wave heights in shallow water using the Stokes wave equations and for determining wave heights in cases of extreme refraction (wave crests perpendicular to the bottom contours). The method is checked by observation of waves in a prismatic channel.
