Reclamation of Open-Pit Quarries for Multiple Uses

Publication: Journal of the Urban Planning and Development Division
Volume 103, Issue 1

Abstract

Reclamation plans for sand and gravel quarries are being required by many public agencies and are advantageous to the public and the quarry operator. Four projects in the San Francisco Bay Area are used to illustrate some problems that have been encountered in reclamation planning and in suggesting solutions. A successful reclamation plan must solve the problems and be capable of implementation. Good engineering input will be required.
