Summary of Land-Use Policy Papers
Publication: Journal of the Urban Planning and Development Division
Volume 102, Issue 1
Abstract
Highlights from papers presented at a June 1975 specialty conference on land-use policy are summarized. The roles of computer simulation and evaluation are related to the roles of citizen participation in the context of issues focused at local, state, and Federal scales of decision making and administration. Changes in attitude toward land use and its regulation have led to changes in the approach of government. Changes in information needs, in analysis and interpretation of information, and in the factors influencing decisions are related to new governmental and market concerns. Case examples used in the papers are identified. Impacts of government policies and regulations upon home builders and the construction industry are mentioned as are obstacles to effective local, state and Federal policies and their implementation.
