Abstract
The megalopolis is rapidly developing in many parts of the world and poses a myriad of problems. Movement of people from the rural areas to the industrial-commercial areas is a major factor, having numerous affects. The impact is causing officials at all levels of government and many others to question and correct the many problems in existing cities and eliminate them in planning new cities. A solution is presented, with an engineer having been assigned the prime responsibility. A team effort with representatives of all the municipal services, interests, and community activities is the basic approach, with the organization being supported by a control board and board of consultants. The new city encompasses clean industries supporting residential areas, thereby reducing local and commuter traffic. Open spaces and parks connected by walkways along the rear property lines, free flow of traffic without intersections, and other innovations will result.
