Abstract
Long range, coordinate planning of public and private developments are facilitated by the broad coverage of topographic maps. It is during the development of preliminary highway plans, in which it is important to determine the major costs of the highway and the efficiency of the highway for the uses, that the greatest advantages of these maps are realized. With properly coordinated field controls, the maps are valuable in the preparation of highway construction plans. Small drainage areas are clearly defined, and the maps contain data that will aid in solution of drainage problems.
