Abstract

Elastic properties of two types of sand are studied in triaxial compression tests under anisotropic loading conditions. Parabolic functions based on experimental stress-strain curves are utilized for functional representation of nonlinear stress-strain curves, Young's modulus, and Poisson's ratio which are required for the nonlinear stress deformation analysis of soil media. It is observed that the elastic properties are not only functions of the type and state of the soil but depend on the stress paths and the stress ratios.
