Foundation Treatment for Embankment Dams on Rock

Abstract
Practices in abutment and foundation treatment for high embankment dams on rock as used by the California Department of Water Resources are presented. After a brief description of three dams (Oroville Dam, Cedar Springs Dam and Pyramid Dam) and their foundation geology, criteria and practices are considered for foundation excavation, cleanup, grouting and surface preparation.
