Abstract
In order to achieve a deeper understanding of the underlying causes of soil plasticity, several lines of research on the physical characteristics of water absorbed on mineral surfaces are being explored. As part of these studies, the density of water absorbed on Na-Montmorillonite was determined over a narrow range of moisture contents in the vicinity of the laboratory-determined plastic limit.
