Settlement of Embankment on Layer of Soil

Abstract
Practicing engineers are often concerned with the computation of the settlement of a layer of compressible soil bearing an embankment of great length with a symmetrical either triangular or trapezoidal cross section. This note attempts to establish tables and charts allowing these calculations to be done quickly.
