Tensile Strength of Compacted Soils

Publication: Journal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division
Volume 96, Issue 6

Abstract

In this study, an attempt has been made to determine the tensile strength of compacted soils and its variation with respect to molding water content by ctiametral compression test, popularly known as the Brazilian Test (1,2). The ratio of unconfined compressive strength and tensile strength at the optimum moisture content (OMC), and the relationship of this ratio With simple soil properties has also been determined.
