Publication: Journal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division
Volume 96, Issue 4
Abstract
A study of settlement of several industrial buildings constructed over varved clay deposits in the Hackensack Meadows area of northern New Jersey is described herein. Conclusions reached after several years of settlement observations and analysis are presented. The effects of settlement on the structures are also analyzed. It was found that actual settlement for three buildings was much greater than estimated on the basis of conventional methods of analysis.
