Measured Performance of Braced Excavation

Abstract

This paper documents the measured performance of a braced excavation located along Accolon Way, a part of Boston's Haymarket Square to Charlestown extension of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). The section considered herein is at Station 76+30 and is known as “Test Section B.” It is one of a group of test sections instrumented and studied by the MIT Department of Civil Engineering under a contract with the META.
