Abstract
In foundation analysis it is often necessary to calculate the stresses at different depths below a loaded area, such as in settlement computations of foundations on layered compressible media. The pressure at any depth due to loaded regions of arbitrary shapes can be obtained by integrating Boussinesq's solution for point load on the surface (1).
