Dynamic Strip Load on Elastic-Plastic Soil
Publication: Journal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division
Volume 96, Issue 2
Abstract
The analysis presented herein determines numerically the stresses, displacements and propagation of the plastic zone beneath a transient strip load on an idealized elastic-perfectly plastic soil. The main objective is to investigate the role of soil inertia. This is difficult to assess from experiments alone because of two simultaneous effects, time dependent stress-strainstrength behavior and inertia.
