Abstract

A general method of seepage analysis using the finite-element method is developed for use on the digital computer. Seepage through dams and around a double wall cofferdam near the face of a slope is considered. The seepage region may be nonhomogeneous and nonuniformly anisotropic. A method of locating the top flow line or seepage line within specified limits of accuracy is presented. Solution of any seepage problem is reduced to a standard simple routine requiring negligible engineering time.
