Scaling Methods for Surface Aerators

Abstract
The scaling laws for relating the performance of different-sized surface aerators are reviewed. It is concluded that complete dynamic similarity, stipulated by simultaneous equality of Reynolds, Froude and Weber numbers, is impossible to achieve. In the absence of dynamic similarity, one can make use of the extended principle of similarity. The application of this method to scale the power consumption and oxygen absorption of surface aerators is outlined in detail.
