Composite Beams with Web Openings: Design

Abstract
A general method for the analysis and design of composite steel-concrete beams with openings centered in the web of the steel section is developed. The approach is based on ultimate strength concepts and allows for the presence of variable amounts of reinforcements in the web and partial shear connection. Design equations and a worked example are presented.
