Tornado Technology and Professional Practice
Publication: Journal of the Structural Division
Volume 108, Issue 11
Abstract
Advancements in tornado technology make it possible to plan and design for the tornado. Tornado proof designs are being employed in the nuclear industry and in the design of shelters. Understandings of the tornado and design experiences can be utilized to plan facilities and to design conventional buildings to resist the tornado. Literature which represents modern tornado technology is summarized, examples of designs for tornadoes are presented, and potential uses for tornado technology in engineering practice are outlined. Barriers to the effective use of tornado technology are discussed.
