Abstract

The earthquake exposure and ground motion of the site for a nuclear power plant in southern California has been the subject of intensive study for several years. A fault zone called the Hosgri was found about 4 miles (6 km) offshore from the site and was assigned for analysis purposes a maximum magnitude of 7-1 /2. This paper presents the methodology developed in three consecutive studies for the evaluation of the seismic hazard at this site by the first writer (3,4, 5) and to condense and compare the result,s from the studies.
