Abstract
Contrary to current structural design practice in load bearing composite walls, having one wythe of brick masonry and one of concrete masonry, the brick masonry typically carries all of the superimposed load in compression, bending occurs around the neutral axis of the brick masonry, and buckling is restricted by both wythes.
