Abstract
Tornadoes in the United States in the average of recent years have brought death to more then 100 persons, significant injury to 25 times that number, and property damage near $300,000,000. This note outlines meteorologists. present vision of the tornado phenomenon as a matter of special interest to engineers concerned with design for protection.
