Prestressed Composite Continuous Bridge Girder
Publication: Journal of the Structural Division
Volume 102, Issue 1
Abstract
It has previously been shown that savings in material coasts of up to 25% can be obtained due to prestressing in the design of simply supported composite beams for buildings and deck type highway bridges. The objective of this technical note is to demonstrate that prestressing leads to similar cost savings also in the design of two-span continuous composite highway bridge girders utilizing the available rolled steel sections.
