Natural Frequencies of Circular Cable Networks

Abstract
The response to cable networks subjected to wind pressure and seismic excitation is of current interest and requires a knowledge of natural frequencies and mode shapes. Most previous work on free vibration of cable systems has been restricted to tightly stretched networks of rectangular planform. The work described herein, however, is concerned with the free vibration of circular cable roofs having moderate sag-span ratios in the practical range from 1/9 to 1/15. Therefore, the usual assumptions related to cable tautness cannot be made.
