Abstract
Tables for the design of columns composed of concrete-encased structural steel shapes are presented. The design loads and slenderness provisions fulfill the requirements of the American Concrete Institute Building Code (ACI 308-71). The tables include all A36 rolled shapes shown in the American Institute of Steel Construction Manual, with nominal depths from 6 to 14 in. and weights less than 114 lb/ft encased in lightweight concrete.
