Response of Viscoelastically Restrained Beam

Publication: Journal of the Structural Division
Volume 99, Issue 7

Abstract

A brief historical review of the different applicable aspects of the theory of viscoelasticity is presented along with the accompanying theory. A method is devised by which the parameters of the standard linear solid viscoelastic material model can be obtained from complex modulus data, obtained from vibrating reed test, and creep data. This model is then used in defining equation of a vibration system to describe the physical parameters of the material that restrains the end of a beam. The response of the beam assembly to free and forced vibration is presented in graph form along with the major points of the analysis.
