Abstract
Report of tests on four plain concrete and six reinforced concrete columns subjected to axial compression and torsion is presented. An expression for the ultimate torsional strength is proposed and compared with the test results of this investigation. As a further check the proposed ultimate strength expression is compared with all tests reported previously along with two other expressions proposed earlier by other investigators. It is shown that the expression proposed herein gives the best correlation with the test results.
