Vibration of Chimney Supported on Elevated Concrete Slab
Publication: Journal of the Structural Division
Volume 97, Issue 2
Abstract
A method for evaluating natural frequencies and their corresponding mode shapes of a tall chimney structure supported on an elevated elastic concrete slab using Stodola method of flexibility is described. The concrete slab is simply supported along its periphery by deep girders. The solution is applied to different construction methods for steel and masonry shells, and the results of the natural frequencies and their mode shapes are given in tabular and graphical form.
