Abstract
The paper describes a simplified formulation of factors that can be used in design to evaluate certain dynamic effects of the wind, principally the effects of gusts. The material was prepared for use in conjunction with a new Scandinavian wind load code. The paper describes the writer's statistical approach to the problem and the dynamic characteristics that are relevant. Comments are made on the significance of vortex-shedding excitation and of aerodynamic instability.
