Heuristic Games for Structural Design

Abstract
The concept of heuristic games for stimulating innovation, for studying system interaction, and for forecasting consequences in structural design under computer-stimulated environment is presented. These games are aimed primarily at the development of sound engineering judgment of structural designers. The general features of structural design games and the basic considerations in their construction are described and explained. An example of practical interest is given in detail to illustrate the application of heuristic games to a structural design situation. The role of computer in gaming is studied. Finally, the merits and pitfalls in the use of structural design games are examined.
