Abstract

Analytical results are presented describing the behavior under a program of increasing load of several hundred individual structural systems, consisting of a reinforced concrete column and its adjoining members. Based on these data, a study is made on the effects of several variables known to influence the behavior and capacity of this type of column. The results of this study provide insight into the behavior and capacity of reinforced concrete columns and into the factors affecting their behavior and capacity. The variables considered are: ratio of end eccentricities, eccentricity of load, slenderness ratio, and degree of end restraint.
