Energy Relationships in Plastic Steel Structures

Abstract
Examination of relationships among various components of energy involved when member of rectangular section and of steel having upper and lower yield stress is bent beyond yield point; expressions are derived for applied, recoverable, dissipated, latent, and complementary energy; use of expressions to determine energy required to cause collapse of simple beam, and to examine redundancies and deformation of redundant structure in partially plastic condition.
