Abstract
Both project and farm irrigation systems are generally designed on the basis of water-use prediction equations incorporating long-term mean climatic data. Because of a lack of information, very little attention has been given to frequency distributions of peak water use. Even when considered, the most commonly used prediction equations tend to respond inadequately to real variations in potential water loss since they involve the use of only one or two climatic factors.
