Abstract
Tests were made both under indoor and outdoor conditions, land and floating pans covered with beads to produce various water surface coverage. Daily measurements of evaporation and water temperature were recorded. Dissolved oxygen measurements were also performed separately to determine the effect of various covers on oxygen transfer. Solar radiation and wind are the two factors responsible for the difference in evaporation between the indoor and outdoor conditions. When applied on an artificial pond, the beads easily spread themselves on the water surface. There was insignificant temperature increase of the water under polystyrene cover as compared to the combined cover which adds to the credit of the material. No interference with the oxygen exchange was observed due to the combined cover and polystyrene beads.
