Proposed Project for a Salinity Problem at Abadan
Publication: Journal of the Irrigation and Drainage Division
Volume 93, Issue 1
Abstract
Periodic incursions of sea water into the delta of the Shatt-al-Arab and Karoon Rivers at Abadan since 1925 have caused increasing concern by the government of Iran, the National Iranian Oil Company, local farmers, and cities in the area. A study of the problem was made by the Oil Company in 1960, and a firm of engineering consultants was engaged to investigate the problem when the highest salinities occurred during 1958, 1959, and 1960.
