Lateral Buckling of CWR Tracks
Publication: Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division
Volume 104, Issue 5
Abstract
The problem of lateral buckling of continuously welded tracks due to constrained thermal expansions has been studied by a number of research workers in the past. A critical review of the literature has been given by Kerr. Basically, the problem can be regarded as that of an infinite rail beam resting on nonlinear lateral and longitudinal springs, heated uniformly to a temperature level T, and constrained to zero displacements at infinity.
