Lumped Elastoplastic Flexibility Models
Publication: Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division
Volume 101, Issue 3
Abstract
For the dynamic analysis of structures beyond the elastic range, one approach is to discretize the mass and the flexibility of the structure such that the model is kinematically determinate. In this approach, the distortions (or generalized strains) of the discretized elements are determined from the displacements obtained from a numerical integration of the equations of motion. The latter equations are essentially controlled by the internal forces or generalized stresses as well as the external loads.
