Abstract
Linear and nonlinear programming formulations and solutions are presented for the analysis of plastic frames allowing for the effect of axial forces. Fixed and variable loading cases are considered both by static and kinematic approach. The concept of moment axial force-mechanism is developed while investigating the equilibrium condition. Solutions are presented for one, two, and three-story frames. These are compared with results obtained by the simple plastic theory.
